UN Grants Protective Measures in Favor of Communities Impacted by Aura Minerals
On July 22, 2024, the Bufete Estudios para la Dignidad (BED), Movimiento Amplio por la Dignidad y la Justicia (MADJ), FUNDAMBIENTE, and Lawyers Without Borders Canada presented a petition to the UN Committee on Social, Cultural, and Economic Rights (CESCR) on behalf of the maya chortí community impacted by Aura Mineral’s operations in Honduras. On August 26, 2024, CESCR admitted the petition for consideration and granted protective measures in favor of the petitioners.
